I matter...
When I came to the Moving On After Moving In class each week I felt like I mattered.
A recent mover to Richmond, VA
I'm normal...
The [Moving On After Moving In] class is like counseling/therapy for people who have gone through the chaos of moving. There were so many areas to address and learn from. I am thankful that Susan Miller wrote the book (After the Boxes are Unpacked) after surviving many moves. I can completely relate to what she writes about and it helps to make me feel normal (whatever that is??? ha ;-)

I wasn't even aware...
I was pleasantly surprised that this [Moving On After Moving In] class really helped meet a need I wasn’t even aware I had. There is so much emotion that is involved with moving, and even though I have so much experience with moving, this is the first time that I’ve ever been in a situation that was therapy to those feelings. Usually I just have to “suck it up” and move forward without pausing to allow myself the grief from a move, but I was able to do that and I think that has helped this move be more positive than it would have otherwise. Where it usually takes me at least a year to find my “niche” and find friends and figure things out, I have been here only 5 months and already am finding that “niche”.

From the Just Moved Facebook page...
Susan, Thanks so much for coming to VA to see us! I loved getting to know you and hearing you teach. Thank you for encouraging Jackie, too. It's so exciting to see how God uses women to build up each other. You are such a blessing.

From a dear friend of Just Moved Ministry and former volunteer...
My dear Friends, I am so impressed with everything you're doing at Just Moved. The website, the speaking engagements, the fundraising, and all of the new classes make it hard to believe when I started volunteering, were just moving it all out of Susan’s house! God has brought the ministry a long way since then, and through you He's blessed and "moved" countless women closer to Him! I am honored to have been a small part of it all. Thanks for the emails - I love reading about the latest activities. You are all busy, busy, busy!!!
Blessings on your next 15 years,
Mary Milt

There must be others like us...
Even though I moved within the last 9 months, I've given Susan's book (Moving On After Moving In) to 4 people in my new town already. The book helped me tremendously to overcome the grief and loss I was feeling, and I love to share the truth in it with others that I meet!
I am actually thinking about co-leading this with another dear friend who just moved to this area. She was the first person I shared the book with and, since then, we have both said that if we felt this way, it is likely that others who have just moved would benefit from this kind of group--especially in Iowa City. Our town is built around the University of Iowa, so people move in for a few years for residency and then are uprooted to a new place, so there are just a whole lot of disconnected women roaming around! It seems like God has brought them to me during the last few months. We are excited to start this.

On April 27, 2010, Susan Miller spoke to the women of Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Read some of their comments left on the Just Moved Facebook page.
Thank you for your sweet demeanor and for always pointing us to Jesus...such a wonderful time of learning and refreshing...
Cindy
...found you such a blessing ... God used you mightily. I am sure I will enjoy the books. I so admire your strength!

It was such a blessing to have you with us this weekend. Thank you so very much for all that you shared and taught us. You have been and will continue to be a blessing for the Ft. Huachuca women no matter where we move to.

Wonderful, "precious" Susan (I've always loved that word and use it a lot, too)...You are the hands and feet Jesus, shining His light in this dark world. Thank you, thank you, thank you for serving the women of Fort Huachuca PWOC this weekend. Your messages were profound, uplifting, encouraging, and motivating! I love you, my dear sister! Feel a road trip comin' on...

A husband who sees the difference...
I just want to thank you for starting the Just Moved Ministry. It has made such a difference in my life (and in my family's life). My husband often says that he could draw a time line and there is such a difference before the [Moving On After Moving In class] and after. :-)

Lives being touched...
Thank you for your personal touch in this ministry, Susan, you probably can't imagine in your mind, just how many people are being helped, comforted, and, sometimes, led to Christ, through the pages and stories, the godly friendships, and especially the scripture used in our [Moving On After Moving In]classes.
Debbie, a Moving On After Moving In class leader at Cedar Spring Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN
Friendships formed...
One of my best friendships was formed in Vicki's class (Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Chandler,AZ) back in '06. I moved to AZ and didn't know a soul. Vicki (and this ministry) was a huge blessing and I'm thankful for it all the time!

Neither rain nor sleet... nor blizzard!....
Just Moved is a life-saver to sooooo many women. Love it. Just had lunch in Longmont, CO during a blizzard at Chick Filet...nothing keeps us Just Moved gals from getting together.
A sisterhood of the moving pants...
We've moved 8 times since my 8 year old son has been born, 3 out-of-state moves, this is his 4th elementary school and he's only a 3rd grader - I feel you sisters!

A first move is so often not the last...
Your ministry saved me with my first move, and its lessons have stayed with me through my subsequent two moves. Thank you.

Passing on the principles of Moving On After Moving In…
As a military child and then an Air Force wife, all I've ever done is MOVE. :) This [Moving On After Moving In] Bible study literally changed my life. And as a result, I started teaching the next "generation", and LOVED every minute of it. Thank you for blessing so many of us.
Joyce on Facebook
(JM – Bless you, Joyce. The next generation needs to learn from your wisdom and experience. We are here to help!)
Gratitude...
[I] cannot find enough words to thank you from my heart for all your love, compassion, kindness, patience, perseverance. Strength from Him and unconditional love! He has transformed my life and my family! God bless you and I keep praying for you and your wonderful ministry and all the new ladies to prepare their hearts.
Sonia in Arizona
(JM – Amen! God leads us daily in this ministry. Thank you for your prayers, Sonia.)
Another military mover...
I was a military (USMC) wife for 23 years! Thank you for all you do to help military wives as they adjust to many moves and much life transition.

This month we thought we would share a few recent notes to Susan Miller...
My move was made easier...
I have learned so much from your emails, books, and hearing you on Focus on the Family for years. I just moved one month ago, my first big move, and I will say it was much easier because of all the things I learned from you and others in your newsletters.

Words of comfort...
Thank you for your beautiful words of comfort to so many hurting hearts at this time of the year. God has so blessed you. You are a shining star to so many of us.

Be a cheerleader for your spouse...
I have jumped in and done my best to 'grow where I've been planted' [and] have been lead to facilitate a small-group, "online" marriage Bible study. Today we discussed being our spouse’s biggest "cheerleader". Which brought to my mind (and I shared) your use of pom poms. ...I've taken several opportunities to use them to celebrate my husband and have even taught my kids to do the same.
Teresa
Thanks for sharing your heart...
What a great message I just read from you on your e-newsletter. Thank you for sharing your heart and encouraging others in the Lord. What a wonderful example of the light of Jesus you are to me.

Some days it seems overwhelming...
I am in a temporary location due to a house fire but it has been extremely stressful. Also, my husband has lost his job so we may be moving if my husband cannot find a job locally. God has been providing for our needs in so many ways. [After the Boxes are Unpacked] was such a help to me about a month ago just to validate all the feelings I am experiencing during this time of transition. Our youngest moved out in August to go off to college so I am facing so many different challenges - some days it seems overwhelming. Thanks for listening and praying.
Lisa in Michigan
(JM – We are here to pray for you and encourage you in any way that we can as you face a crisis move, Lisa. God will not leave you or forsake you.)
Letters in response to our ministry to the military...
THANK YOU for loving on our military wives. You are the BEST!!!
Carol in Arizona
(JM – Thanks, Carol. God continues to open more and more doors for Susan Miller and Just Moved! to reach military spouses who make tremendous sacrifices every day. Read more from Susan’s latest letter...)
Dear Susan and staff,
Just received your letter on our troops. Yes, we do need to be so thankful for them. They and their families do need our prayers. Just an idea... My first trip out in the morning I do not turn on the radio, CD, etc. but spend that 15 - 20 minutes praying for our troops and their families. If I know someone [deployed] I include them specifically. I pray for them at other times, but that 15 to 20 minutes is theirs. I have been doing this since our troops went to Iraq.
Cathy in North Carolina
(JM – What a wonderful suggestion, Cathy! Let’s all be diligent to pray.)

Still trying to acclimate...
I'm excited about being in West Florida; still trying to acclimate. We came from Colorado, had a wonderful [Moving On] class and am looking for a local one here. God Bless.

(JM – There are many “Moving On” classes in Florida, Elizabeth. Let’s talk and find out if there’s one near you!)
Retired too soon...
Thank you for this Christian community. I moved last year and it is very difficult to adjust. I retired too young I need to work.

“Where are you? Do you hear me?”
Thank you for your phone call today. I realized after we hung up it's God's way of answering my "Where are you?" and "Do you hear me?" questions and my accusatory, "I feel like you don't hear me!" statement made over the last several days. I DO have faith that God has a plan for me - it's just not in "my" time. As you know it's so hard to relocate and I guess since I lived here before I assumed it would be easy - actually piece of cake! Not so. But again, I do know that God does have a plan. Sometimes when you are in a house day in and day out and the kids have their friends and activities and your husband leaves daily and travels to exciting places and is welcomed in the office and eats out with other people other than kids and spouse I guess I just loose sight of it.
Karen in Kansas
(JM – Karen, I am so glad that you talked to one of our caring volunteers who knows what it’s like to relocate. All of your emotions are so normal – even though you are returning to a place you’ve lived before. Keep your focus on Christ!)
The book confirmed all my feelings...
Susan, I met you several years ago when you came to Singapore to the International Baptist Church Women's Group. It was wonderful for me as I had just relocated to Singapore after living in NYC. I got so much out of the retreat. It was such a pleasure to have met you and I surely had wished that I had stumbled upon Just Moved! years ago when I started making so many moves with my husband during our early years of marriage. Your book confirmed all my feelings that I had and still have as we continue to move.
Sue in Dubai
(JM – From Dubai to Des Moines, Susan Miller loves to meet and encourage movers wherever she goes. Wishing you God’s blessing, Sue!)
It’s not always easy, but...
I've been married to my husband for over seven years and we've lived in four different states during that time. In order [for my husband] to move up the [corporate] ladder we have to be willing to be very mobile. It's not always easy, but after listening to Susan Miller I've looked at moving and my husband much differently. With each move I think our marriage and our bond with our two young boys gets stronger.
Julie in Illinois
(JM – God wants to use our moves to grow us closer to him and to our families and to deepen our faith. May this latest move and any moves to come bring unexpected blessings, Julie!)

Moving is like leaving the operating table in the middle of open-heart surgery...
Hey to all from Kentucky. Wish I'd known about you 3 years ago. Moving has been like leaving the operating table in the middle of open-heart surgery: some things got left behind.
Colleen in KY
(JM – What a vivid image of how heart-wrenching moving can be! While precious people and places got left behind, watch with eagerness for the new people, places, and experiences that God is bringing into your life.)
All this time I thought it was just me...
I recently read Susan Miller’s book (After the Boxes are Unpacked) and am so thankful that I heard about the book on Moody Radio. I moved to Tennessee four years ago and have not found my place in this community. There are so many details I could write but it would take too long. I finally gave it to the Lord. My identity was very much affected but my faith has given me peace and I have learned much from this experience.
The book helped me so much. The many things I had experienced were right there in the book, but all this time I had thought it was just me. The many Bible scriptures and examples of God's servants who had experienced moving gave me such a comfort and understanding that many before me have experienced. I am now going back through the book, gleaning and writing down the many things that comfort and help me to move on.
Dianne in TN
(JM – After the Boxes are Unpacked has helped so many to understand that they are not alone in the emotions they are experiencing! Continue clinging to your faith in the One who sees the whole picture and in all wisdom knows the perfect time for the doors to community involvement and connection to begin.)
Thankful for the Just Moved! Community
Thank you for this Christian community. I moved last year and it is very difficult to adjust. I retired too young I need to work.
Ellen in NJ
(JM – We’re all looking for connection within our community, aren’t we Ellen? Our prayer is that the Just Moved! Community can provide a sense of connection while you wait for connections to form in your local community. Relocating is rarely easy. Be patient and do not tire of reaching out to others.)

God was at work in our most traumatic move...
Susan, and all you Just Moved - and Just Blessed! – family,
Like you, Susan, I see how God was at work in our most traumatic move, and is still bringing opportunities and miracles from that wrenching and stretching time. They're the topics of my several "Chicken Soup" stories and available for all y'all (if I may wax Southern) on my blog www.rospiration.blogspot.com. Thanks so much for the lessons I'm STILL learning and applying from Moving On.
Rose in Arizona
When a move goes on and on and on...
I have not moved in 6 years but I still feel like I am moving because I still am going through storage and other things from many moves. I have moved so many times in my life, that is why I am connected to this ministry.
Dana in California
(JM – We remember when you were considering a move to Colorado, Dana! You have so much to offer this ministry and other movers – we love that you are a part of our Community! No move is quite the same and each comes with its own challenges. Tackle those boxes one at a time and don’t neglect to unpack your emotions.)
Support from ‘Moving On’ friends...
I have to say "Greetings from the Beverly Hills of Arkansas!" I attended [the ‘Moving On’ class] last year and it was the best thing to happen to me since I moved. I didn't know a soul, didn’t have a church family, and didn’t have any women friends here. Just last week, my husband had a heart attack and I can't believe all the support I received from my [‘Moving On’] friends and new church Family. What a blessing to have these people around you!
Julie in Arkansas
(JM - Wow, Julie, that's what the ministry of Just Moved is all about! God knew that you would need friends and support in your crisis so He directed you to a church and a "Moving On" class that would be there when you REALLY needed them. Praise God!)
Unemployed...moving...and trusting...
Thank you very much for the voice mail last night. I think you guys are great to be concerned about women all over the U.S. in our moving struggles. That really meant a lot!!
I have been a Christian for 35 years and moved out of state five times in 29 years of marriage. But two times in the past three years.... This was the hardest six months. My husband and I both lost jobs and moved to find work. I was devastated and hated leaving our adult children behind. This move caused major depression. No job, no friends, and no family; just trusting God for daily provision.
The [Moving On] class started in January and slowly I began not being angry or crying constantly. God took me through the journey of unemployment for one year, gently reminding me He was in control...so trust!! I have also made wonderful friends in this class and we even meet every Wednesday since it is over.
I would encourage any Christian going through the "Closet illness of Moving" to join this group. God uses all resources, including moving, to have us draw closer to Him.
-Bona in North Carolina
(JM – Bona, I am so glad that you found encouragement and friendship in a ‘Moving On’ class. Keep trusting God to be doing something beautiful in your lives through this challenging time.)
Wow God, you really know what I need...
I thank you so much for taking out the time to call and send me an email. It made me feel like someone actually cares about the transition I am about to embark on. All year I have prayed that we will stay home and have been pretty much selfish about the moving thing even, angry at times. But, I decided to seek God about the matter and, after all my kicking and screaming, I am at peace that we must move in order to keep the family together and not spend anymore time apart.
Driving home from work one day, I heard about [Just Moved!] on a broadcast called Family Life Today. I was so surprised to hear that there was such a ministry. I thought, wow God you really know what I need. It has been a month or two since that drive home and recently I decided to check out the website. The website was great and so encouraging. I thought it wouldn't hurt to join [the Just Moved! Community], so I did. I am so glad I did and I look forward to the things to come as I transition to a new location.
- Marnya in Virginia
(JM – I’m so glad you’re a part of the JM Community and that we can encourage you as you face this big move, Marnya. It is a privilege to pray for you and your family. Lean on the Lord during this stressful time and He will give you strength and a bright future!)
Thanks for the website...
It is wonderful to see that there is site such as this for those who have moved. I just completed my 10th major move in 30 years! This one happened in less than 6 weeks time of learning it would happen! It has been a wonderful experience as we have truly sensed God's direction!
- Brenda
(JM – Glad you found us on the web, Brenda. May God bless you in this move as you follow His direction.)
