Susan Miller’s book, After The Boxes Are Unpacked, and the Just Moved! ministry is a perfect fit for military wives the world over!

My husband was a pilot in the Air Force for 21 years, and during that time we lived in the Philippines, Germany, and England and a number of states that included Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, and Oklahoma. The overseas squadron wives do a good job of reaching out to women who are new, but wouldn't it have been a double blessing to have had the warm welcome of a group of Christian women in place to give God's perspective on the move and to remind us of his promises that will follow us to the ends of the earth! 

I have had the privilege of being a part of the start up of the Newcomers Ministry at Grace Chapel Church in Englewood, CO back in 1998. This ministry has been JOY to my soul! I'm so thankful that God inspired Susan to write her book. I have met so many wonderful women through the years who have flourished and grown in their faith, as well as some who have come to know Jesus through this ministry. It is truly amazing to watch from one week to the next how their countenance is transformed and uplifted as they connect with others who are experiencing the same emotions, struggles, and triumphs through their journey. As we pray together for our children's adjustment, for a home to sell, for new friends, for family and friends left behind, our burdens grow lighter as we place them at the feet of Jesus.

I love being a part of the ministry team. These women radiate the love of Christ and a deep commitment to women in transition. This ministry is like a cup of cool water to a dry, thirsty soul. What a blessing to be in the overflow of God's spring of living water!

A God who is faithful

I would like to say thank you for your ministry. Debbie and I have moved around the world with the Air Force for the past 20 years. While I was always excited about the new and "better" job, Debbie rarely shared my enthusiasm. It meant that she had to re-establish routines and friendships that took time to grow, and that new process would require time and effort that was emotionally draining. God was always sovereign and we found ourselves surrounded by incredible friends and developed lifelong memories. 

Debbie is getting a chance to share about God's faithfulness during our many moves to women that are struggling with the process. Your book has proved to be an outstanding tool and resource, to help the women she spends time with, in making the rough spots smooth during a difficult time of transition. Debbie has also gotten a lot of useful things from it and she can identify with much of what you talk about. Debbie tells me about numerous women who have had very difficult moving experiences. The fellowship that she shares with them and the use of  ‘After the Boxes are Unpacked’ has made the transition not seem quite as bad. 

God is an incredible God and He is faithful to take care of His own. I am grateful that he uses us to take care of each other. Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling in your life. I'm sure that you will never know all that God is doing as a result of your obedience to His calling.

I can hardly find the words to express how the ‘Moving On’ class has impacted me. The book, After the Boxes are Unpacked, and the class study have moved me to become a better woman. I just wish I had this info when I was a young military wife moving across the country!

Imagine my surprise when I found out the book we’d been giving away to ladies preparing for a move was the core of a very vital worldwide ministry! Susan Miller ’s book,

After the Boxes are Unpacked is an invaluable tool for every military family. It offers not only very practical tips for a move, but, more importantly, how to handle a move from the Christian perspective – outstanding! I’ve been doing this moving thing for 24 years and every move felt like the first one until I read this book and took the ‘Moving On’ class! Thank you Susan and all your precious sisters that keep us “moving folk” going. God bless you!
